Income Tax Return (ITR) is a form submitted by taxpayers to the Income Tax Department of India. It contains information about the individual’s income and taxes that need to be paid during the financial year. Taxpayers can also file their ITR online via the e-portal of the income tax department.
After the ITR has been filed, taxpayers review the status of their ITR whether it has been accepted or is still under process by the Income Tax Department. Once the ITR has been accepted, taxpayers get an acknowledgement text of the same on their registered mobile number or email ID.
Prerequisites for checking ITR Refund status online:
PAN Card
Aadhar Card
Registered mobile number (to receive OTP)
Launch the e-Filing portal homepage and click on e-Verify Return.
Now, enter your PAN number and select the Assessment Year followed by the Acknowledgement Number of the ITR filed and Mobile Number
Enter the 6-digit OTP, received on the registered mobile number
Click on the Submit button
In case you are e-Verifying the return after 120 days of filing, click on the Ok button
Things to keep in mind
OTP will be valid for 15 minutes only.
You will get only 3 attempts to enter the correct OTP.
The OTP expiry countdown timer on screen tells you when the OTP will expire.
After clicking on Resend OTP, a new OTP will be generated and sent to your registered mobile number.
