Townsville prison escapees: Update in manhunt for ‘dangerous inmates’ on the run

Two dangerous inmates who were on the run for three days have been captured by police after they were spotted by a member of the public. 

Vaughn Michael James Hunter, 31, and Fabien Brian Galigan, 20, fled from Townsville Correctional Centre on Sunday night. 

The pair ‘walked out’ of the facility’s low-security custody farm around 9pm and were last captured on CCTV walking along the Bruce Highway.

Hunter is serving ten months for serious assault and Galigan two years and six months for wounding.

A member of the public saw the men near the intersection of Ross River Rd and Bowen Rd in Mundingburra about 1.15am on Wednesday.

Vaughn Michael James Hunter and Fabien Brian Galigan fled Townsville Correctional Centre on Sunday 

The witness contacted police who arrested the two inmates later that morning.

The pair have faced Townsville Magistrates Court.
