Valve has finally announced the new Counter-Strike game — Counter-Strike 2 — and is now available for all users via the Steam platform. The game is free to play and all users can now download the game and start playing.
But, before jumping to that, the biggest question here is can your PC handle the new Counter-Strike? Well, to help you out we’ve put together the complete system requirement list for the game as listed by Valve itself.
Counter-Strike 2: System requirements
Before getting into the system requirements details about the game, it is important to note that these are minimum requirements and any PC that matches these requirements can run the game. Anything above this will run the game at a better frame rate.
Also, note that Valve has made the game available on Windows and Linux platforms. macOS is missing from the list for now.
Windows minimum requirements
- OS: Windows 10
- Processor: 4 hardware CPU threads – Intel Core i5 750 or higher
- Memory: 8 GB RAM
- Graphics: Video card must be 1 GB or more and should be a DirectX 11-compatible with support for Shader Model 5.0
- DirectX: Version 11
- Storage: 85 GB available space
Linux minimum requirements
- OS: Ubuntu 20.04
- Processor: 4 hardware CPU threads – Intel Core i5 750 or higher
- Memory: 8 GB RAM
- Graphics: AMD GCN+ or NVIDIA Kepler+ with up-to-date Vulkan drivers. Support for VK_EXT_graphics_pipeline_library highly recommended.
- Storage: 85 GB available space
- Sound Card: Highly recommended
What do the minimum requirements tell about the new Counter-Strike?
Counter-Strike has always been the game that runs on any PC irrespective of the specifications. That continues with the latest game. So, looking at the requirements this game can run even on relatively older devices. For instance, the Intel Core i5 7th generation CPU is something a couple of years older and the GPU requirement is 1GB or more with Direct X 11 which is also not the latest DirectX version.
All in all, the game can run on basically any PC even if they rock a couple of older internals.
