Collingwood midfielder and 2018 Brownlow Medallist Tom Mitchell has attracted unwanted attention after taking a dive during the Pies’ seven-point qualifying final win over the Demons.
Mitchell flopped to the ground during a tussle in the opening quarter which was largely passed over by commentators.
As Christian Petracca bungled a snap at goal that sailed out of bounds on the full, Mitchell appeared to utter something that set off the Demons gun.

Petracca then grabbed at Mitchell and gave him a shove to the chest with Mitchell sagging to the ground with his arms flailing.
Field umpire Matt Stevic disregarded Mitchell’s appeal for a free kick to which Petracca grinned and laughed about.
The pair then traded barbs as they jumper-punched before the ball was thrown back into play.
“He didn’t really do much to Mitchell at all,” Brian Taylor said in commentary for Channel 7.
“Mitchell voluntarily sat on the ground, I would describe it as. Good umpiring. Nothing more than a whistle.”
The incident was minor compared to the dramatic scenes that unfolded later in the term as Brayden Maynard accidentally knocked out Angus Brayshaw while trying to smother a kick.
As Maynard faces a nervous wait for match review officer Michael Christian’s decision, Mitchell will also have to keep an eye out for a possible charge and sanction for staging.
