‘Future of file management’: Microsoft will announce AI for OneDrive at October 3 event

Microsoft has brought AI to its Office suite, search engine, browser and even Windows 11. The company is likely working to power OneDrive with artificial intelligence prowess. The company has announced an event in October – just days after it is hosting a ‘special event’ in New York City on September 21.

“Join us on Oct 3 for an Exclusive OneDrive Event,” the company said in an invitation to the event, calling it “Microsoft OneDrive: The Future of File Management is Here”.

“Calling IT Admins, partners and Microsoft 365 enthusiasts! Mark your calendars for a special online event where you’ll get a first-hand look at the future of OneDrive,” the company said in the announcement.

The event will see Jeff Teper, president, collaboration apps and platform, at Microsoft and the OneDrive product team “showcase the next generation of file management across Microsoft 365.”

The company will show the new enhancements to OneDrive and discover the benefits of faster file access, better organisation, simpler collaboration, and improved file security across Microsoft 365.

“OneDrive is more than cloud storage. It’s a powerful tool that helps you work smarter and collaborate better across Microsoft 365. In recent months we’ve made many enhancements to OneDrive and there’s more to come,” Microsoft said.

The executives will also give a sneak peek at the company’s AI plans which include new search, sharing, and information queries across all files in OneDrive.

Microsoft September 21 event
Microsoft had previously announced a “special event” in New York City on September 21 wherein the company is expected to launch three Surface devices. The event may also witness the announcement of AI improvements to Microsoft 365, Windows, Bing, and other company products.

Microsoft may also announce details about the next Windows 11 update as it revealed earlier this year that it’s planning to release a September update for Windows 11.
