Apple iPad Pro with OLED displays, 4TB storage may launch in 2024

Apple is set to launch the iPhone 15 series on September 12. The smartphone lineup will include four models – iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The Cupertino-based tech giant is also rumoured to launch a new iPad Pro model with OLED displays in 2024. According to a new report by MacRumors, a rumour from a parts company in Apple’s supply chain suggests that the upcoming OLED iPad Pro will offer up to 4TB storage.

OLED iPad Pro with 4TB storage: What to expect
The report claims that the iPhone maker will double the storage capacity of the next-generation iPad Pro models. To compare, Apple’s current 11-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pro offer a maximum storage of 2TB.

Apple started offering a 2TB storage option with the previous fifth-generation iPad Pro. Apart from this, the current sixth-generation iPad Pro models also support ProRes video recording up to 4K at 30fps (1080p at 30fps on models with 128GB storage).

If the rumours are true and Apple introduces iPad Pro models with 4TB, the company is also said to increase the base storage to 256GB to maintain five capacity categories. This will allow all upcoming seventh-gen iPad Pro models to record ProRes videos in 4K at 30fps.

It is also important to note that RAM capacity in iPad Pros varies depending on the storage variant. iPad Pro models with 128GB, 256GB, or 512GB of storage come with 8GB of RAM. Meanwhile, models with 1TB or 2TB of storage offer 16GB of RAM. The report also speculates that the 4TB iPad Pro models may feature 24GB or 32GB of RAM.

Apple is rumoured to start mass production of the upcoming iPad Pro models at the beginning of 2024. The revamped iPad Pro models are expected to ship with a refreshed version of the Magic Keyboard that may include a larger trackpad and an aluminium top case to make the iPad Pro look more like a MacBook.

The new iPad Pros will be the first major update to the product since 2018. The upcoming models are likely to feature the M3 Apple silicon chip, OLED displays, and slightly larger 11- and 13-inch size options.
