Jimmy Buffett dead aged 76: Legendary ‘Margaritaville’ singer ‘passed away peacefully surrounded by family, friends, music and dogs’

Legendary singer-songwriter Jimmy Buffett died on Friday aged 76.

An announcement was made on his official Twitter account late Friday night that said: ‘Jimmy passed away peacefully on the night of September 1st surrounded by his family, friends, music and dogs.

‘He lived his life like a song till the very last breath and will be missed beyond measure by so many’. 

The two-time Grammy nominee who is best known for his song Margaritaville had revealed in May that he had been hospitalized ‘to address some issues that needed immediate attention’.

‘Growing old is not for sissies, I promise you,’ the 76-year-old billionaire tweeted at the time.
