Books by authors critical of trans ideology are being hidden out of sight in libraries run by a Labour-led local authority, it has emerged.
The titles taken off public view in libraries under the control of Calderdale Council in West Yorkshire include Helen Joyce’s best-selling Trans: When Ideology Meets Reality.
Other works include Material Girls by Kathleen Stock, the feminist academic hounded out of her job for saying biological sex cannot be changed.
After hearing her book had been hidden, Ms Joyce told The Daily Telegraph: ‘You have to deal with little tinpot censors.

‘They think it’s incumbent upon them to educate those they think of as racists, homophobes, colonialists, and transphobes.
‘They live in a bubble which allows them to do and say sanctimonious and stupid things and feel that they are in the right.’
Calderdale Council said that all books were ‘freely available’ but that books ‘in our lending store are not visible’.
‘Although the books in our lending store are not visible on our library shelves, they are listed in our online catalogue and can be ordered for free.’
