NRL signing news 2023 | Newcastle Knights poach Jed Cartwright from South Sydney Rabbitohs, The Mole

The Knights have continued their build-up for next season by signing talented Souths forward Jed Cartwright.

The Rabbitohs were keen to keep Cartwright, who has become a regular member of their top grade squad, but he decided there was more opportunity at the struggling Knights and has signed a two-year deal with the club from next season.

Cartwright comes from a famous football family – grandfather Merv was one of Penrith’s founding officials and dad John played for the Panthers, New South Wales and Australia in the 1990s before becoming the inaugural coach of the Titans.

He is also the cousin of Eels utility player Bryce Cartwright.

Jed Cartwright began his NRL career in 2019, playing just one game for the Panthers before joining Souths the following year.

The 26-year-old has played 13 top grade games for Souths this season and been strong coming off the bench.
