Jose Mourinho FUMES at Anthony Taylor for ref’s ‘bull****’ display

Jose Mourinho labelled English referee Anthony Taylor a ‘f***ing disgrace’ for ‘bull****’ decisions and confronted him while he tried to leave the Puskas Arena in an extraordinary row after the Europa League final.

Taylor was accused of ‘seeming Spanish’ for the number of yellow cards he doled out – 13, a record for a European final – after Mourinho’s Roma side were beaten on penalties by Sevilla in Budapest.

The Spanish side clinched a record extending seventh Europa League title after winning 4-1 in the shoot-out, following a 1-1 draw after extra time, but Mourinho, who gave his runner’s up medal to a Roma fan, was not about to make peace with his fate as he waited to angrily confront Taylor in the car park.

‘F***ing disgrace man, it’s a f***ing disgrace,’ Mourinho fumed, before switching to swear at the official in Italian. ‘F*** off,’ he continued.

Mourinho then approached the mini-bus taking the referee away from the stadium where he sniped: ‘Congratulations, you f***ing disgrace’, before trudging off to the team bus.

Pitch-side, Mourinho was pulled up on his animated gestures, slapped with a yellow card for his expressions.

At least three cards were handed out to people on the Roma bench, on top of the 13 given to players.

Seven Roma players were booked during the final, a record in the Europa League showpiece, with six members of the Sevilla side also shown yellow cards.

Roma’s players were incredulous that Erik Lamela was not shown a second yellow late on for a cynical foul – before he went on to score in the shootout. There were also appeals for a penalty waved away, much to their annoyance.

Mourinho said after the match: ‘Pellegrini falls in box and given a yellow card; Ocampos did exactly the same thing and he doesn’t get one. It’s a scandal.

‘VAR called the referee and shames Ocampos but there’s no card given. Lamela – who, by the way, scored one of the penalties – deserved a second yellow but didn’t get it. And let’s not even talk about the big decisions. ‘

He added: ‘The injustice is shown by the fact Lamela should’ve had a second yellow, he didn’t, and he converted a penalty in the shoot-out.’

Mourinho, who was booked in the closing minutes of extra time, hit out at Taylor’s performance in the final.

‘Next year we won’t be playing the Champions League and that’s a good thing because we’re not made for it,’ he said.

‘And let’s hope that Taylor, only officiates games in the Champions League and does the same bull**** there that he did tonight, and not in the Europa League.’

‘It was an intense, vibrant game with a referee who seemed Spanish,’ Mourinho said. ‘It was yellow, yellow, yellow all the time.’

It is not the first time Mourinho has sought out a referee after a match.

In 2012 Mourinho was accused of waiting for the referee following Real Madrid’s Spanish Cup exit to Barcelona in the underground car park at the Nou Camp.

Taylor was forced to show multiple yellow cards during the match, while both benches were regularly seen protesting decisions in a bad tempered final.

The 60-year-old has been sent off three times in the Serie A season, while he will also miss Roma’s final match of the campaign due to receiving five bookings in the league.

Mourinho’s players felt equally aggrieved with the English official, with Diego Llorente not mincing his words after the match.

‘Today in all the dubious episodes, the yellow cards, the referee blew the whistle in favour of Sevilla,’ he said.

‘I am surprised because he is an international referee who has a great reputation.’

Meanwhile, Mourinho said he was yet to make a decision on his future at Roma, amid suggestions he could leave following his second season at the club.

‘I am going on vacation on Monday. If we have time to talk about it before Monday, we will,’ Mourinho said.

‘If not, I will go on vacation and then we’ll see. I have to fight for these lads and therefore not say objectively that I will remain.

‘I am a serious man. I told the owners a few months ago that if I had some contact with other clubs, they would be the first to know. I would always be honest and direct.

‘I spoke to the club in December when I had that approach from the Portuguese national team.

‘I have not had any contact with anyone else since then. I have a year left on my contract and this is the situation.’
