No Man's Sky creator leaves a cryptic ‘Apple’ tweet

The founder of Hello Games, the creator of the survival game “No Man’s Sky,” tweeted two Apple emojis. This has led to speculation that the studio may hint at an upcoming announcement for Apple platforms at WWDC.

Sean Murray, the founder of Hello Games, has a history of hinting at upcoming announcements using cryptic emojis.

During WWDC last year, Apple announced that No Man’s Sky would be accessible on iPad and Mac by the end of 2022. However, this deadline was not met, and the game has still not been released for Apple devices.

The two emoji teasers from Murray may suggest that the release of No Man’s Sky for iPad and Mac is now close at hand.

Apple showcased the game on the Mac Mini and confirmed that No Man’s Sky would utilise their MetalFX upscaling technology and Metal 3 graphics API.

Some found a file named “Mac” within the game’s internal depot, suggesting that a MacOS version of the game could be released soon.

There are rumours that Apple may unveil its VR/AR headset at WWDC. As No Man’s Sky is already available on VR platforms such as PlayStation VR and Meta Quest 2, some speculate that it could also be released on Apple’s VR headset. This could very well be why No Man’s Sky for Apple platforms was postponed. We suggest taking this with a pinch of salt since nothing is confirmed now.

One of the modern AAA games that are fully optimised to run on Apple silicon Macs is Resident Evil Village.

The publisher Hello Games has released three games on the App Store. These include two auto runners from the Joe Danger series and the adventure game, The Last Campfire, available on Apple Arcade.

Apple WWDC 2023 keynote is scheduled for May 5. Rumours are rife that Apple will showcase the next iteration of iOS, iPadOS, macOS and more. The keynote might also see the announcement of a much-awaited mixed-reality headset and a few Macs.
