Three British ‘hitmen’ appear in court accused of gunning down a 51-year-old Albanian man

Three British ‘hitmen’ suspected of conspiring to gun down an Albanian businessman in a ‘blood feud murder’ appeared in court yesterday.

Edmond Haxhia, 37, Steven Hunt, 49, and Thomas Mathin, 35, are accused of assassinating 51-year-old Ardian Nikulaj at his bar, Coral, in Shengjin, Albania.

Police believe the murder arose out of a dispute over £80,000 between two families. Footage released by police shows a masked gunman fire a handgun at Mr Nikulaj on April 19.

Hunt, Haxhia and Mathin were arrested in Britain by police yesterday morning. They appeared in the dock at Westminster Magistrates’ Court after a warrant was issued by Albania for their extradition. All three were remanded in custody.

Hunt and Mathin are from Bristol. No address was given for Haxhia. British woman Harriet Bridgeman, 28, is said to have been arrested in connection with the murder.
