Kiwi comedian Melanie Bracewell sledges Australia; praises New Zealand

A Kiwi comedian has put forward her case for why Australians should give up the ‘staycation’ trend and holiday across the ditch instead.

Melanie Bracewell, the co-host of Channel 10 show The Cheap Seats, says New Zealand has ‘so much to offer’ tourists – without the risk of dangerous native animals.

She told News.com.au there is also the added benefit of New Zealand being smaller, meaning visitors can see more of the country during their trip.

‘It’s a small country that has so much to offer, so you can just drive two hours and you are at the beach. Then you’ve got the vineyards, you’ve got islands… you could travel the whole country in a few weeks and see a whole lot of different stuff,’ Melanie said of her home country.

Melanie, who is also an occasional panelist on The Project, said she once tried to book accommodation in Australia but was put off by the website saying there are poisonous snakes in the area.

‘I looked and thought, “That [place] is nice,” and it said, “We have the occasional spider and snake,” and I said, “Nope!”‘ she laughed.
