The Dolphins have missed out on another major target – boom young Wigan Warriors forward Matty Nicholson.
Nicholson is only 18 but is regarded as the next big thing in Super League, having scored two tries on his debut for Wigan in May.
Several other NRL clubs were also keen on Nicholson, but the Dolphins, with plenty of cash still to spend and spots in their roster, were leading the pack.

But Nicholson has knocked them all back and is expected to sign a lucrative deal with Warrington Wolves on Wednesday.
A lock or second-rower, Nicholson won a national championship in England at the age of 16 and has already been named in the England Knights Performance Squad – the best young players in Britain.
His decision shapes as another blow for Wayne Bennett’s Dolphins, who have missed out on many of their top targets for their debut season in the NRL in 2023.
