Martin Kemp, 60, sends the crowd wild as he takes to the stage to DJ amid former bandmate’s arrest

Martin Kemp took to the stage at the Chester 7s Festival to DJ for the crowds on Friday evening, as his ex bandmate – former Spandau Ballet singer Ross William Wild – appeared in court accused of committing a string of sex attacks.

The actor and Spandau Ballet star, 60, entertained the audience as he hyped them up and mixed together classic anthems for the event held at Winnington Park Rugby Club.

Martin had his summer wardrobe at the ready as he flaunted his golden tan in an all-white ensemble for the performance amid the allegations against his former bandmate.

He channeled Ibiza DJ vibes as he paired a white linen shirt with some matching jeans and Nike trainers while he entertained the crowds.

Martin seemed in high spirits as he played song after song on the decks wearing large black headphones around his neck.

The performance comes as it’s reported that Ross, 34, allegedly committed 17 offences including rape and sexual assault at his home in north London, a hotel in Shrewsbury and in Cannes, France between 2013 and 2018.

The Scots musician is accused of raping a woman, blackmailing her and disclosing a private sexual picture of her.

He is also accused of filming himself molesting six other women while they were asleep.

Wild, who replaced Tony Hadley as the 1980s band’s singer in 2018, was arrested at his parents’ home in Aberdeen on Thursday after prosecutors gave the green light for police to charge him earlier this week.

The singer wore a plain black T-shirt with his black hair slicked to one side as he appeared at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court.

He cried as his lawyer Chris Toms told the court: ‘He is a professional musical performer.’

Of the rape charge, Mr Toms made no formal plea on behalf of wild, but said: ‘That is firmly denied. He wants his day in court.’

It comes after his celebrity son Roman Kemp revealed he wants to quit showbiz in five years and ‘retire young’ because he hates fame and dreams of one day opening a dog sanctuary.

The Capital FM breakfast host, 29, told MailOnline he learned from an early age after looking up to his famous parents and godfather George Michael that being a ‘celebrity’ didn’t appeal to him and he’s only working now to save money for his future.

In an exclusive interview, Roman, whose father Martin was the guitarist in Spandau Ballet, admitted he longs for the day when he can leave ‘dangerous’ London after growing ‘terrified’ that his life will revolve around convincing the public to like him.

Roman said: ‘When I was a child, I was fortunate to see fame at the level of big people in terms of my godfather and my parents.

‘You have one level being my mum and dad, which is being recognised at restaurants and all those types of things but then fame at George Michael’s level, I wouldn’t want that ever.

‘If my children one day wanted to become an artist I would back them but personally that level of fame doesn’t appeal.

‘I am not doing this job to become famous; I know for a fact it doesn’t interest me.

‘The reason I work, and my agent knows this, and my mum and dad know this, the only reason I’m doing it is because I want to retire as a young person.

‘I am terrified that I will spend my life on a tiny island that is the UK trying to get people to like me.

‘I want to get to the point where I start a family and do what I want to do. I want to be a stay-at-home dad and open a dog sanctuary.’
