Sophie Cachia’s ex Alanna Kennedy denies ‘interactions’ at Matildas game

A representative for international soccer player Alanna Kennedy has hosed down rumours she reunited with her ex-girlfriend Sophie Cachia at a recent Matildas game.

Kennedy, 27, allegedly ‘went over to talk to’ the 32-year-old influencer after the game at Melbourne‘s AAMI Park on Saturday, a source told So Dramatic.

Cachia was apparently in the ‘family section’ of the crowd, leading to rumours the former couple, who dated for several months in 2020, were ‘back on’.

However, a spokesperson for Kennedy strongly denied this in an email to Pedestrian.

Bruce Kaider, the CEO of the sports PR agency that represents the Manchester City defender, said his client denies any ‘alleged interactions’ with Cachia at the stadium.

He insisted the two women were not ‘back on’, adding that Kennedy had not approached Cachia after the game but had instead spoken him and a colleague.

Cachia, Mr Kaider said, was not with them.

The rumours about Kennedy and Cachia come after the former Australian Survivor star confirmed her split from basketballer Maddie Garrick in late October.

Despite not revealing the reason for the split, Cachia hinted at a breach of trust and said she made the decision to set a ‘good example’ for her two children.

The break-up came one month after the pair began a long-distance relationship when Garrick moved to Florence, Italy, to work for a local women’s basketball team – and just eight months after they got engaged.

‘It is with sadness and a great deal of pain that I have unfortunately made the decision to end my relationship,’ Cachia wrote on Instagram.

‘When I proposed, I did it with the guarantee of loyalty, trust, honesty and respect from my end.

‘Despite the great deal of love I still hold, I have made this decision to lead by example for what I know I deserve in life for myself, and for my children – because we are all worthy.’

She added: ‘While I am hurting, life must go on. I still have to show up for work with my businesses and most importantly be a mum and role model to my two children.’

She concluded by saying she did not expect the relationship to end so soon.

‘This is unfortunately a position I really didn’t want to be in. Therefore, I beg of you, please let me be, to protect my children, my mental health and allow us to heal and move forward,’ she wrote.

‘I will not be commenting any further.’

A month before the break-up, WNBL star Garrick had moved to Italy for work after signing with local basketball club Polisportiva A.Galli Basket, leaving Cachia back in Melbourne with her two children, daughter Florence, five, and son Bobby, eight.

Ahead of Garrick’s departure, Cachia had shared a heartfelt Instagram post insisting their new long-distance romance was a stroke of fate and destined to thrive.

She had proposed to Garrick on Mardi Gras weekend in February, presenting her with a huge ring encrusted with three diamonds.

The sleepwear designer was previously married to retired AFL star Jaryd Cachia, which ended before she began dating women.

‘I had a beautiful man in my life, I still do. He’s an incredible father and an incredible friend to me but why can’t women seek more?’ she told the No Filter podcast in 2020.

‘That married life I realised wasn’t what I wanted. And it wasn’t that I realised, “Oh, I like women now, I’m going to leave my marriage.” it wasn’t that; I realised I wanted more.’
